Norman Plastow Gallery, Lingfield Rd, Wimbledon, SW19 4QD
Open daily 11am to 4pm, Wed 2nd Dec to Sun 6th Dec, 2026
This special free entry exhibition showcases original paintings created by a vibrant group of talented young Ukrainian artists during a rural retreat near Prague in 2011–2012.

Plein Air Retreat
Staying in a traditional farmhouse, this group of gifted young Ukrainian artists made original works of art in an intensive plein air collaboration.
Set in the scenic Czech countryside, the gathering freed these emerging painters from the studio immersing them in natural light, real-time observation, and camaraderie.

Unique Collection
The resulting collection captures a rare period of creative freedom—blending traditional Ukrainian sensibilities with bold, modern takes on colour, form, and texture.

The Exhibition Comes to England
In the peaceful summer of 2012, journalist Philip Wright discovered the collection through its gallery and stepped in as their English agent.

War in Ukraine Transforms these Paintings
As war unfolded, these paintings have transformed into something deeper— shifting from a vibrant snapshot of youth to a lasting symbol of Ukrainian cultural resilience.

Medical Aid for Ukraine

All profits from the exhibition will be donated to UKRAINE CHARITY (reg:1163036) for the supply of medical aid & ambulances to Ukraine, via Wimbledon based not-for-profit MEDICAL LIFELINES UKRAINE LTD (reg:14658637).
